Saturday 18th April 2026

1pm – 4pm: Exhibition Opening (free entry)

We are delighted to announce we will have a new exhibition opening on Saturday 18th April, titled ‘Richard Blosse: The Man Behind the Lens’.

Richard Blosse was a well-known character in Portmahomack until his death in 2014. He took many unique photographs of the area, from the archaeological dig here at the Discovery Centre to everyday agricultural life. He also volunteered 20 years of his time here at the museum, creating the Tarbat Photographic Archive and researching local history. Richard’s commitment to traditional analogue methods captured life in the Tarbatness area through a unique lens.

The exhibition will include photographs of fishing, farming, village life, and archaeological excavations of the Pictish settlement at Portmahomack. Richard’s original artworks and writing will also be displayed, showcasing our local heritage.

Entry will be free and refreshments provided.
